Life should be about so much more than protecting yourself with white lies.
That’s what so many of us do; we hide behind our insecurities, struggles and complex feelings with lies to temporarily escape from them.
The truth may not always be easy, but it is beautiful, and its strength to cut through nonsense is often enough to free your mind from constant burdens.
There are some things that just can’t and aren’t meant to be faked. Whether it’s happiness, joy, love, peace of mind or any other emotion, they’re supposed to give us an indication of the things that we do and don’t want in our lives. Faking emotions like these just present us with a distorted perception where what we feel and what we show the world are very much out of sync. And what’s more damaging than having to continue living a lie to keep up appearances?
In fact, one of the best things you can do is learn to see situations for what they actually are rather than what you wish they were. It teaches you to take the good with the bad, to understand what situations are made for you and those that you shouldn’t entertain.
Most importantly, it teaches you what to embrace, and what to walk away from.
It’s OK to accept that today is a bad day, maybe it’s been a bad week or longer. That is the first step to you reclaiming your happiness because you understand that whatever you’re experiencing isn’t for you.
To live the truth is one of the most vulnerable things you can do. It’s like being an actor in a film that’s based on your life without having a script to prepare you for what’s coming next.
But what holds us all back, what stops us from living the lives we’re meant to live, are the lies that we tell ourselves. And not only does it rob the world of the truest version of yourself, but it can also rob you of the happiness you deserve.
Knowing the truths allows you to see where you are right now and where you would like to be. And what better way for you to decide where to channel your energy? That’s what makes the truth so necessary and wonderful; it’s the compass that tells us what direction to go towards next.
So if you’re ready to stop wasting your time on sweating the small stuff that doesn’t play a huge role in your life, now’s the time to be truthful. That way, you can focus your energy on living a life full of purpose.
That’s just the simplicity of the honest truth. It allows you to understand what you need to at the right time. No more dreading the future or beating yourself up about the past.
It’s far from easy, but once you’ve begun to be 100% truthful with yourself, you won’t go back to hiding behind lies. Better yet, share your truth with others and inspire them to do the same.
